Margin SellerProfit research for marketplace sellers

Seller guides

Use the marketplace listing page reader

The Page reader helps bring public product-page details into a Margin Seller audit. It is user-triggered and limited to information visible on the listing you open in your browser.

Quick answer: The listing reader collects visible price, title, weight, and dimensions from the product page you are viewing, locally in your browser, to fill the audit.

A practical workflow

Follow the guide step by step

  1. 01

    Choose a supported public listing

Select Walmart or Amazon in the calculator and paste the matching product URL. Product pages must be opened in a browser tab; the app does not fetch them in the background.

  2. 02

Run the Page reader on the listing

Use the bookmarklet from the calculator on the live product page. It can copy supported visible details such as product name, price, category, fulfillment, weight, and visible offer context when the page exposes them.

  3. 03

    Review imported details

Confirm the name, price, category, size, weight, seller, and offer data before calculating. A missing or outdated page field should be corrected manually rather than treated as verified.

  4. 04

Enter the costs the listing cannot know

Add supplier cost, shipping, advertising, returns, discounts, and other operating assumptions. A product page does not contain your purchase terms or full cost basis.

Visible-page research is not account access

The Page reader works from a listing you open and a scan you start. It does not sign in to Seller Central or Walmart Seller Center, use seller credentials, call seller APIs, or continually fetch pages while you are away.

Supported details vary by marketplace page and listing layout. Treat imported values as a convenient starting point and verify the fields that drive your decision.

Keep the audit under your control

The web calculator uses browser-local research for product work. You can correct listing details, add your own costs, review the resulting estimate, and choose whether to save or export the audit.

If a field is unavailable, manual entry remains an option. The reader does not establish product demand, marketplace approval, authenticity, or supplier reliability.

What the reader can and cannot see

The reader only collects what the page displays. If a field such as weight is missing, you enter a verified value yourself.

Always confirm that the listing matches the product you plan to buy before relying on the estimate.

Verify imported listing details in decision order

Check identity and price first: confirm the marketplace, product URL, exact variation, condition, and current selling price. Then verify the pack quantity, category, dimensions, weight, and fulfillment method because those details can change the cost estimate.

A missing or stale field is not evidence that its value is zero. If a variation selector or redirect points to a different item, return to the intended listing and correct the audit manually before calculating.

  • Prioritize product identity, selected variation, pack size, and price.
  • Verify category, dimensions, shipping weight, and fulfillment classification.
  • Treat seller, offer, and Buy Box details as observations from that page visit, not future conditions.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Does the Page reader need my marketplace password?

No. It reads supported information visible on the public product page you open and does not log in to a seller account.

Does Margin Seller fetch product pages automatically?

No. Listing research is user-triggered from the open page. The app does not crawl listings or run background marketplace fetches.

Why did a product detail not import?

A field may not be visible or supported on that listing layout. Check the imported values and enter the missing product name, price, or other audit input manually.

Does Margin Seller access my seller account?

No. It reads the visible product page only and keeps data in your browser.
