Overview — local-first, no background collection

Margin Seller is a single-purpose margin calculator for marketplace sellers. All product research — saved audits, cost assumptions, price history snapshots, and sourcing notes — is stored locally on your device. No product research data is transmitted to or stored on Margin Seller servers. The Chrome extension does not collect, upload, or share browsing data, product data, or personal information in the background.

Chrome extension — permissions and why we need them

The Margin Seller Chrome extension requests the following permissions. Each is used solely to deliver the core margin-calculation feature:

  • Host access to walmart.com, walmart.ca, amazon.com and amazon.ca product pages — used only when you actively click Scan in the side panel. The extension reads publicly visible product details (title, listing price, seller name, fulfillment type, rating, and category breadcrumb) from the active tab. It never reads marketplace account pages, order history, credentials, or payment information.
  • Side panel — displays the margin calculator in a Chrome side panel next to the product page. No data leaves the extension through this panel.
  • Storage — saves your cost assumptions, saved products, fee schedules, and preferences in Chrome's local extension storage on your device only. This data is never uploaded.
  • Tabs (query active tab) — used to read the URL of the current tab so the extension can confirm it is on a supported product page before enabling the Scan button.
  • Scripting — used only to retry the same product-page reader in the active, supported Walmart™ or Amazon™ product tab when that reader was not loaded yet. It is not used to inject code into unrelated sites or to run background scraping.
  • Margin Seller web-app access — used for the optional account connection and subscription-access verification described below. The extension does not use this access to read marketplace account pages or private seller data.

The extension does not inject scripts on any page other than supported Walmart™ and Amazon™ product listing pages. It does not read search results pages, account pages, or any other site.

What the extension reads — and what it does not

When you press Scan, the extension reads the following publicly visible data from the active product page: product title, listing price, seller name, fulfillment label (e.g. WFS, FBA), star rating, review count, product category breadcrumb, product image URL, and the product page URL. This data is used only to pre-fill the margin calculator and is stored locally in your extension storage.

The extension does not read or collect: marketplace account credentials, passwords, session cookies, order history, financial account details, private Seller Center or Vendor Central data, personal addresses, or payment information of any kind.

Web application — local storage

The Margin Seller web application stores saved audits, cost assumptions, and price history in your browser's IndexedDB. This data stays on your device and is not synced to or accessible by Margin Seller servers. Clearing your browser storage or using private/incognito mode removes this data.

Optional account connection and access verification

The extension works for a limited number of scans without an account. If you choose to connect a paid plan, the extension stores a short-lived, server-signed access token in Chrome local storage and IndexedDB. When access is checked, the token is sent over HTTPS to the Margin Seller API atmargin-seller.replit.app. The API returns only the current access result, plan, and token expiration. Product-page data, saved audits, and cost assumptions are not sent as part of this verification request.

When you initiate the connection from the web app, the web app may pass the token to the extension through Chrome's external-extension messaging. The token is not a password, is not used for marketplace access, and is cleared when you disconnect the extension, remove the extension, or the token expires.

Account and billing data

If you create an account, Clerk processes your authentication information, email address, account identifier, and session information. If you purchase a plan, Stripe processes subscription, customer, and payment information. Margin Seller does not receive or store your full payment-card number. Replit hosts the Margin Seller web app and API and may process limited technical information needed to operate and secure those services, such as request timestamps, IP address, and error or security logs.

The relevant provider policies are available from Clerk, Stripe, and Replit. These providers may retain information as required by law, for security, or under their own terms.

Chrome Web Store User Data Policy and Limited Use

Margin Seller uses information received through Chrome extension APIs only to provide or improve its single purpose: user-requested marketplace listing research and margin planning. Its use of information received from Chrome APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

We do not sell, rent, use, or transfer extension data for advertising, credit, lending, insurance, or other unrelated monetization. We do not allow people to read extension data except when you request support, give permission for troubleshooting, or access is required for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or protection of the service. We do not transfer extension data to third parties except when necessary to provide the disclosed feature, operate or secure the service, comply with law, or prevent abuse.

Consent, choices, and essential technologies

Scanning is user initiated through the extension's visible Scan control. Connecting a plan is optional and requires an action in the web app or extension. You can decline to connect, disconnect at any time, clear local extension storage, remove the extension, or request account deletion. The web app may use essential session, authentication, and billing technologies such as cookies or browser storage for those functions. The app does not use them for cross-site advertising or to build behavioral profiles.

Website analytics and advertising

If enabled for the published web app in Replit Publishing settings, Replit-managed analytics may record page views and referral information. Margin Seller also sends limited events for public SEO resources: the resource family and slug, which audit call-to-action placement was clicked, and whether an audit was completed after that click. These custom events do not include product URLs, product titles, supplier details, or seller-entered audit values. To connect a resource CTA click to an audit, the app temporarily stores only the resource family, slug, and CTA placement in tab-scoped session storage. It clears that attribution after a successful audit or when another SEO resource page is opened. Analytics are not used for cross-site advertising. The extension does not include third-party analytics scripts, ad networks, or tracking pixels, and we do not sell personal data.

Data export and deletion

Signed-in users can export a full copy of their account data as JSON or CSV from the Account page, or submit an account deletion request. A deletion request removes server-side account data and queues local research cleanup. Some billing, security, or fraud-prevention records may be retained for the period required by applicable law or financial regulations. You can delete locally stored extension data at any time by disconnecting, removing the extension, or clearing Chrome's extension storage. A connected access token is also removed when you use the extension's disconnect control.

Children's privacy

Margin Seller is intended for business use by adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 13 years of age. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, contact us at the address below.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect product changes or legal requirements. Material changes will be noted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the product after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
